🌧The Weather is Cold and Grim, the Heating is On for the First Time...

This is the time of year when I brace myself, because honestly:
I’d love nothing more than to curl up in a blanket and drift into a winter hibernation.

Sun, summer, warmth, a breeze.
Everything feels easier in summer.
We spend more time outdoors, meet friends, stay active.
Old hobbies resurface, parks fill with runners, and roads are teeming with cyclists. 🏃♀️🏃♂️
---
And yes, there’s science behind this:
🌞 Sunlight has an uplifting effect, boosts our cognitive function,
and helps us sleep better by regulating our circadian rhythm.
(Listening tip: On the Huberman Lab Podcast, Andrew Huberman, Professor of Neurobiology and Ophthalmology at Stanford, dives deep into the effects of sunlight. Curious about the episodes? Let me know, and I’ll send you the links!)
---
But as the days grow shorter, rain clouds linger, and the sky seems permanently overcast, it all gets tougher.
We easily slip into comfortable, yet sometimes unwanted, routines.
---
That’s why I make it a point to challenge myself daily to keep tackling the "hard" things:
➡ Making that one phone call, even when I’d rather not.
➡ Spending those few hours working on the document.
➡ Getting out of bed when the alarm rings.
➡ Going for a run, even in the rain.
Even when I don’t feel like it.
---
Why is this important?
🚫 Because otherwise, I know I’ll stand still.
🚫 I won’t achieve what I set out to do.
🚫 And in six months, I don’t want to look back and realize nothing has changed—that I let life pass me by.

What are your small routines and rituals that you want to stick to as winter approaches?
Or are you ready to give yourself a little push?
Let’s take it on together. 💪
