This is the painful truth about coaching someone:
“I can bring opportunity, I cannot bring determination.”

As true as this statement is, it’s equally frustrating.
🧐 I clarify, confront, provide tools and homework, mirror my client, inspire, and unravel patterns...
And yet:
I don’t live their life.
I’m not in the driver’s seat.
I can’t—and shouldn’t—do it for them...
No matter how much I sometimes wish I could.
We all know it:
Extrinsic motivation is far less effective than intrinsic motivation.
They have to do it themselves, in the end.
Even though I sometimes think:
“Just do this already!” 🤯
Not. ❌ My. ❌ Job. ❌
The beauty of it is this:
It makes the transformation the coachee undergoes even greater, stronger, and more lasting.
✅ Because they do it themselves, they see they have it in them.
✅ They realize they can come up with solutions.
✅ They discover they are capable of taking the necessary actions.
This is the power (and exercise in patience) of coaching.
