Performance Pressure: Acceptance and Self-Compassion.

Performance Pressure (2/3)

Acceptance and Self-Compassion.

Medical professions are rarely ⚫ black-and-white ⚪.

The endless search for a problem can have serious consequences.

Because perfection doesn’t exist, something will always happen.

So we must be content with:

“This is the best we can do right now, based on what we know.”

If you feel a strong calling for your profession, this may cause you to think:

❌ I don’t know enough

❌ I’m not good enough

❌ I don’t want to make mistakes

The result?

➡ You dive endlessly into the material.

➡ You get stressed at every unexpected turn.

➡ Feedback feels like a personal attack.

➡ You compare yourself to your colleagues.

“Comparison is the thief of joy,”

goes the English saying.

Because you’ll always find someone who does one thing better, another thing faster, something else more smoothly, and the last thing supposedly more “successfully” than you.

Ask yourself this:

🤔 Is this one and the same person?

Or are you just mix-and-matching as it suits you?

I have my suspicions.

Is it never enough in your life?

Know that help is available. 💜
